Replacement and Upgrade of Exterior Access Control Fingerprint Reader
This project involves the complete replacement of an existing exterior fingerprint reader with a new, upgraded unit. The scope includes the supply of the new hardware, decommissioning and safe removal of the old unit, physical installation of the new reader in an outdoor-rated enclosure, and integration with the existing Access Control System (ACS). The project concludes with software configuration, thorough testing, and commissioning to ensure secure and reliable operation for user authentication.
The scope of work is defined by the following key activities:
1 Supply and Preparation:
• Supply of a new, weatherproof (IP65/IP66 rated) fingerprint reader compatible with the existing Access Control System.
• Supply of all necessary mounting hardware, connectors, and conduit for exterior installation.
• Verification of equipment upon delivery.
2 Installation:
• Safe power-down and decommissioning of the existing fingerprint reader.
• Physical removal of the old unit.
• Preparation of the mounting surface and installation of the new reader, ensuring a secure and weather-tight seal.
• Running and terminating all necessary cabling (power and data) from the reader to the access control panel.
3 Software Configuration & Integration:
• Integration of the new reader into the existing Access Control System software.
• Configuration of the reader's parameters (e.g., communication protocol, device ID, access levels).
• Enrollment of user fingerprints and assignment of access privileges as per the provided user list.
• Setting up anti-passback and time-zone rules if applicable.
4 Testing & Commissioning:
• Functional testing of the power and data connections.
• Live testing of fingerprint recognition for enrolled users, verifying grant/deny of access.
• Testing the door lock release mechanism and door status monitoring.
• Verification of audit trail logging in the ACS software.
• Final commissioning and handover of the fully operational system to the client.
Upon completion, the project will deliver:
1. A Fully Operational & Secure Access Point: A new, reliable fingerprint reader installed and functioning correctly at the exterior location.
2. Seamless System Integration: The new reader is fully integrated with the existing Access Control System, with no loss of functionality.
3. Verified User Access: Confirmation that enrolled users can successfully gain access using their fingerprints according to their assigned permissions.
4. Project Documentation: A handover package including:
o Installation report.
o Test and commissioning certificates.
o Equipment datasheets and warranty information.
